CHARACTERISTICS

The Pummelo or Pomelo is one of the citrus varieties with the largest fruit, true giant fruits.

It is a beautiful tree with dense foliage. The leaves are large, oval and glossy, almost heart-shaped. It has white flowers with a very strong perfume.

There is a thick layer of white, spongy substance, the albedo under the skin.

The pulp has an intense, fragrant aroma and it has also a flavour reminiscent of grapefruit or bitter orange.

USES

An edible variety that is also very popular for decorative purposes.

Rich in vitamin C, fibre, water and soluble sugars.

It is used to make juices, jams, candied fruit and jelly.
